The Temple Committee Against Human Trafficking supports the work of ATZUM Task Force on Human Trafficking. We are now working with Rabbi Levi Lauer, Executive Director of ATZUM and the American abolitionist, Aaron Cohen (author, The Slave Hunter). Our objective is to encourage the Knesset pass a law, modelled on the Swedish law which criminalizes the buying of sex. Sweden approaches human trafficking from a political and human rights perspective. The Swedes targeted demand for, without demand for paid sex, there is no need for supply. This would be as effective in Israel where the crime of human trafficking continues to flourish in brothels and so-called discrete apartments. We can end human trafficking in Israel.
