Who We Are

We are members of Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom. At the suggestion of Rabbi Leigh Lerner, the Temple Committee Against Human Trafficking (TCAHT) was created in 2005 as part of Social Action. The TCAHT focuses on human trafficking for sex slavery. The first conference was held in 2006 and subsequently, an Interfaith Coalition was formed. Faith based and secular groups and individuals joined the Temple Committee to work together in a common goal of ending sex slavery. With the assistance and generous support of the Interfaith Coalition, the TCAHT hosts an annual conference which attracts some of the most important leaders in the modern abolitionist movement. We believe that education and critical thinking will change the way society thinks of the sex industry. We advocate for vigilance to protect the vulnerable from becoming victims and to recognize signs of human trafficking. We partner with ATZUM Task Force on Human Trafficking in Israel. The TCAHT received a Fain Award from the Religious Action Center of the Union of Reform Judaism in 2007 and is a member of the Triple S Network.
