At Temple, we have a long and beautiful tradition of honouring the memories of our loved ones on Yom Kippur with the printed Roll of Remembrance.

This year, we are continuing this tradition in a new way, by creating a video which will be incorporated into the Yizkor service online.

As with our print Roll of Remembrance, you may submit names that will appear as text in the video. This will be in keeping with the solemnity of the day. In Judaism, remembering those we love is connected with giving tzedakah in their memory, as a way to honour their legacy. As in the past, we ask for a donation of $18 for each name that you share.

We are providing an additional opportunity for remembrance to those who have lost loved ones in the last year, (since last Yom Kippur), especially since, in recent months, funerals and shiva observances have been curtailed. We invite you to submit a photo of your loved one, along with their name, the years of their birth & death, and one line, up to 10 words, describing who they were.

This will be in keeping with the solemnity of the day. If you have names and/or photos to submit for this year’s Yizkor Video

Names submitted after August 21st may not be included in the video.

Zecher tzaddik livracha – may the memory of our loved ones be a blessing.
